Four years ago I lived in PS for about 6 years. Let’s just say when you live in a vacation resort area it looses a little bit of it’s magic. You know how when you visit a place on vacation and you say  “I could live here”  well I did and it’s not the same living in it.  You are no longer on vacation.  But now that I’ve been gone for some time the magic has started to come back. I’d visited the Colony Palms Hotel  several times in the past but had never stayed there. I’m so happy that we choose to stay there during this mini vacay with some of our best friends from college. The Colony Palms did not disappoint! Great private and quiet rooms, relaxing pool with an amazing bartender Skylar mixing up some “Mojave Mules”. The vibe was all around chill. Though we went during off season and 115 degree weather the rates were low but with the same high level service. It you don’t like the heat definitely go during season, the summer isn’t for you.  October through April is going to be the best time to visit for beautiful weather. During the hotter months taking an Uber around town is your best option.

When we weren’t at the pool (which was 99% of the time) we were grabbing fish tacos at Ruben and Ozzy’s Oyster Bar. We love this place so much we went twice! Try the sautéed mushrooms and don’t forget a Pacifico with a lime to wash everything down.

For coffee and pastries in the morning you’ll want to head to Koffi. My Iced Soy Caramel Latte is always made to perfection!

Breakfast at the VERY popular Cheeky’s. If you’re ok with waiting it’s worth the wait! Can you say, Bacon Flight?!

For the old school coffee shop/diner breakfast head over to Rick’s

For an elevated dinner experience we tried  Mr. Lyons. It’s been renovated but still has that vintage Palm Springs feel. From the full bodied red wine to the delicious prime rib then the amazing dessert of beignets, we all left stuffed and happy.

For some yummy Mac & Cheese I love Trio.  Their happy hour is pretty awesome too!

If you’re craving Mexican food then El Marisol is a must! Larry and I went at least once a week when we lived in the desert. (Seriously)

“We didn’t realize we were making memories we just knew we were having fun”

I think this quote describes our trip so well!

Now let’s talk about shopping! The shopping in the Uptown District Palm Springs is the best. I love that they are charming, retro,  privately owned boutiques of people that live in Palm Springs.  You’ll find one of kind items that you won’t find anywhere else. If you want corporate owned stores that you can find in any mall then you have to head to Palm Desert. Here’s my favorite places to shop in the Uptown District PS: Trina Turk , Wil Stiles , Bon Vivant , Just Fabulous (for cards & books). If  you want amazing floral arrangements check out My Little Flower Shop , they’re the best!
